Goals:

To provide 6 upright Glued-Laminated beam awning assemblies that are ready to install with minimal manipulation, comprised of 1 Glulam Column and 1 Cantilevered Glulam, connected via various custom prefabricated steel connections inset into a myriad of 3rd party fabricated knife and plunge cuts, dapping and drilling.

Achievements:

1 Full depth plunge cut, and 1 Angled dap for each cantilevered beam, complete with through drilling to accommodate the countersunk bolts. Each column received a 3 foot through knife cut that accommodated 20 through drilled and countersunk bolts as well as a 2 foot plunge cut at the other end to accommodate 5 through drilled and countersunk bolts.

Wood Specifications:

Alaskan Yellow Cedar, Surfaced 4 Sides for the columns and 3 Sides for the cantilevered top chord. The columns were fabricated to a layup specialized for vertical strength, and the upper beams were fabricated to a balanced layup, due to their cantilevered extension.
